Today is the first day for families to submit a request for testing for the Gifted and Talented exam.

All families interested in Gifted and Talented programs must submit a request in order to take the test. Students entering kindergarten, first, second or third grade can submit a request either online, in person at their public school, or at a Family Welcome Center. The deadline to file a request for testing is November 9th.

Families looking for more information on G&T programs should review the handbook online, which is available in all ten of the DOE’s languages. This year, for the first time, we have also printed translated copies of the handbook in 9 languages, and have distributed them at pre-K centers around the City. Handbooks contain a list of schools with G&T programs in the 2015-2016 school year. Please note that not all schools with G&T programs in 2015-2016 will have G&T programs in 2016-2017 and some schools not listed may start new G&T classes in 2016-2017. There will be Family Information Sessions in all boroughs between October 20 - 22. I’ve included the details about this information sessions below.

Families may access the G&T website for a detailed calendar of events, assessment and eligibility information, and resources. They can also call 718-935-2009 for more information.
