For Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela

For Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela

I have sailed 'cross the stormy sea

Climbed that steep mountain

Travelled hard dusty road

I have come long way

Now am on my way

The times have battered me

I've been in great pain

Carrying a heavy load

On my troubled mind

For all this time

I swallowed bitter cups of tea

Cracked stones in icy rain

Now am on board

The Lord's own train

I cried to You

And You took my hand

For what I'd gone through

Brought me out of the sand

Now fill me with Thy Spirit

Renew me with Thy Spirit

Lift me 'cross heaven's door

Where my treasures are stored
