MANY RIVERS TO CROSS AND I SURE WILL

[A Short Poem]

Where do I begin and where do I end?

As I meander on this River of Life’s challenges up comes another river

River of love feels like a million dollars

River of sorrow feels like I lost everything I thought I had;

River of confusion keeps me not knowing my full potential

River of doubt leaves me with so many unanswered questions

River of clutter makes me feel like there is no way out

River of poverty makes me spend my last dollar in hope of a dollar and a dream

River of noise makes me feel like I want to scream

River of homelessness keeps me wondering where I’ll rest my head.

River of hunger makes me yearn for a place to get my next meal

River of discrimination pushes me to know myself

River of abuse makes me feel like I can’t help but lose

River of racism makes me know that I must NOT let it drown me

Many rivers to cross, and yes, I MUST cross every one of them, with LOVE
