The Department of Education is reminding families to submit a request for testing for the Gifted & Talented exam by Monday, November 13. Families with students entering kindergarten, 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade can submit a request online, in person at their public school, or at a Family Welcome Center.

“Gifted & Talented programs are one of the many great options available for students across the City, and I encourage all interested families to sign up for the test by Monday’s deadline,” says Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña.

Families looking for more information on G&T programs should review the handbook online, which is available in 10 languages (including Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, French, Haitian Creole, Korean, Russian, Spanish and Urdu). Printed copies of the handbook have been distributed to schools and pre-K centers across the City and contain a list of schools with G&T programs in the 2017-18 school year. Please note that not all schools with G&T programs in 2017-18 will have G&T programs in 2018-19 and some schools not listed may start new G&T classes in 2018-19.

Families can also visit the G&T website for a detailed calendar of events, assessment and eligibility information, and additional resources. They can also call 718-935-2009 for more information.
