Sixth Year in a Row St. Francis Earns Accolade from Forbes.com

Summer on a college campus can be a quiet time, but St. Francis College has been busy collecting accolades for the quality of education it delivers to its students. For the sixth year in a row Forbes.com has selected St. Francis College for its America’s Top Colleges list while bestcolleges.com classified St. Francis as one of its Best Catholic Colleges.

Forbes.com takes the top 650 colleges in the United States and ranks them with a focus on things like graduation rate, debt load and job prospects. “We’re not all that interested in what gets a student into college,” writes Forbes Staff Writer Caroline Howard on the Forbes.com website. “Our sights are set directly on ROI: What are students getting out of college.”

Forbes.com works with the Center for College Affordability and Productivity (CCAP) to compile the America’s Top Colleges List.

Earlier this summer, St. Francis was highlighted as the best private college in New York State for financial return on investment by the College Database because of its tuition under $20,000 and estimated starting salary for graduates at more than $45,000.

St. Francis earned its spot on the Best Catholic Colleges list in part because of its dedication to providing an affordable private college education to those who otherwise would not be able to reach that goal. The BestColleges.com list was compiled with student surveys that gauged their “satisfaction with classes, professors, and the inclusion of faith practices in their studies. Additionally, experts in the field were interviewed to determine the reputation of the different programs.”

Bestcolleges.com bills itself as a go-to source for students looking for “a new perspective on what is important in their college search.” The site also looks for “certain unique characteristics of schools that are not often discussed.”

St. Francis College, founded in 1859 by the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn, is located in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y.  Since its founding, the College has pursued its Franciscan mission to provide an affordable, high-quality education to students from New York City’s five boroughs and beyond.
