WagFest Book Tour

Coming to a city near you.

Authors, booklovers, steppers, comedians, and small business owners came together in Seattle, Washington, on March 13 to participate in Wagfest Networking Bazaar’s fourth event.

The bi-annual three-day networking event caters to independent and self published authors, poets, musicians, comedians, and small business owners. It all started October 2007 in New Jersey when a close knit group of self-published authors got together in the spirit to sell books and have a good time. Since then, a second WagFest (Seattle) in March 2008, WagFest (Cincinnati) in October 2008, and WagFest (Seattle) proved to be a huge success with large groups of artists and fans; both local that traveled cross country to participate in this event. The saying at WagFest is “come as strangers but leave as family” and that has proven true at every WagFest.

The March 2009 WagFest attracted more than 100 booklovers, aspiring authors, comedians, and small business owners from all over the United States. Comedian Ralph Porter provided the entertainment during the “Comedy Explosion” extravaganza on Friday night. Mr. Porter has worked with Sinbad, George Lopez, Tommy Davidson, and Mark Curry just to name a few.  Porter has also made his network television debut on BET’s One Mic Stand this past year. The Saturday bazaar introduced its first “WagFest Kids” component, providing free books and a popcorn machine to one lucky youngster after winning a contest.

Sunday’s farewell festivities included a tour of downtown Seattle, a boat ride and dinner at the popular Ivar’s Seafood restaurant, known for its seafood chowder.

Kerry E. Wagner, founder of Wagfest says, “Certainly it was nice to see the vendors selling books and merchandise, along with having a great time– with smiles on their faces.  But nothing was better than seeing the glow on their faces and in their eyes. See, for us this is the goal….the epitome of WagFest.”

“Most artists know that building a successful career out of their art takes time, dedication, and support. Support is something that families are sometimes not willing to give readily. In linking up with WagFest, you have a community that will back you and as we grow so do YOU!” WagFest embodies the vision of self-sufficiency and resourcefulness for entrepreneurs.”

Wagner’s mantra, “Only those that can see the invisible can achieve the impossible” manifests itself every time WagFest comes to town.

WagFest will be heading to Atlanta, October 2-4, 2009. Comedian, Ralph Porter will be returning as the headliner along with surprise guests. Conference highlights will include the WagFest “Comedy Explosion,” spoken word, music, round-table discussion, and books available for purchase.
