Cher Mills

[Theater]

The Diamond Necklace Jewel of Her Heart, a newly created work written by Cher Mills, based on a short story will show for one performance at The Lt. JP Kennedy Theater as part of a community endeavor to provide affordable live theater to the senior community.

Also directed and produced by Cher Mills, the play features an amazing cast that includes Deidra Sutton, Allen Craig Harris, Linda Sherrod and featuring the dynamic Jazz vocalist Lil Phillips.

Matia’s motto is, “Rather have diamonds on my neck, than roses on the table.” However, Matia is clueless to where this obsession will take her. The Diamond Necklace Jewel of Her Heart, uses the basic elements of this classic tale but welds the setting and the characters to reflect everyday events and economic-margins of within society.

A mixture of humor, music intervals, live singing, and quick moving plot add to this dramatic stage play.

Cher Mills, as a Visual and Performing Arts Teacher has assisted with a number of productions, including The Rainbow Polar Bear, Lonely in Space and The System. A circle of ‘creatives’ including ‘theater folk’ this inspired her to do a stage-play of her own. The Diamond Necklace Jewel of Her Heart, is Cher’s first solo production, which includes writing, directing, producing and marketing! Cher Mills still intends to write the book version as well; with plans for a possible e-book.

Cher holds a Masters in General and Special Education for Students with Special Disabilities, and a BS in Human Services. Additionally, completed coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis toward National Certification in Behavior Analysis. Cher is also the founder of Create to Relate Productions.
