Anita K: “My aspirations are being a motivational speaker for up and coming African fashion designers and models and being a role model for African models and being a Philanthropist,

[Our Model Of The Day]

Where She’s From:
Ghana-born beauty Anita K. believes the world is hers---when it comes to the modeling industry.

“I was raised in New York; specifically The Bronx,” she tells The Black Star News. “I will forever be grateful to my parents for teaching me how to be responsible, teaching me how to forgive and grooming me to become a very independent woman.”

Anita graduated from Farmingdale State University in May 2007 as a Medical Lab Technologist—when she’s not dazzling at fashion events, she can be found at work at New York Presbyterian Hospital.

Where She’s At: “I started modeling as of  April 2007; it started out as a hobby because I just loved taking pictures, and my friends continuously told me I was a master poser, also that I gave great  expressions,” she explains. “A photographer approached me and asked if he could use me for a project, I agreed, and it turned out great. After that I started taking modeling serious.”

“My aspirations are being a motivational speaker for up and coming African fashion designers and models and being a role model for African models and being a Philanthropist,” the ambitious young lady adds. “Anytime I am going through challenges of any kind, I resort to prayer, it has been my source of inspiration, and it works for me.”

She’s pleased by the way her career started its upswing so suddenly.

“It's like one day, I'm lil ole' Anita, then the next I'm Anita K. the model,” she says with a laughs.  She’s awaiting a major magazine spread that’s coming out soon. “I'm indeed thankful, for each and every photographer who took the time to reach out to me to work with me as well as designers, stylist and make up artist. And of course my thanks goes out to my friend and personal motivator Cheryl-Ann who also helps me out with my modeling career and guides and advises all my power moves.”

“Beauty alone cannot take place,” Anita cautions other aspiring models. “Brainpower and beauty makes an intellect; molds you and exude some kind of power and grace combined.”

How does Anita K. prepare to step out? “My best brand of lotion is the Aveeno products, it rejuvenates the skin and it is so refreshing. MAC is the best make up for all skin type; it makes your skin glow and besides it does not make you break out like other make up does. My favorite perfume is Givenchy; I love Givenchy, people actually stop to ask you what perfume you have on when you wear it. I love shoes; Guiseppe Zanotti, Michael Kors,  Emilio Pucci, Betsey Johnson and Prada. Some of my favorite clothing lines are Baby Phat, Diesel, Miss Sixty, Kenzie, BCBG Girls—and I love afro-centric designs as well.”
