Where He’s From: Ashley Sinclair Cook was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina.

“All of my family and friends live in Columbia or in surrounding towns,” she tells The Black Star News.  “Because I was raised in the church, it was instilled in my mind to always have faith in God, in myself, and in everything that I do. As long as I kept God in my life, I would be blessed and be happy.”

Ashley graduated, Cum Laude, in 2006 from Benedict College of Columbia, SC.
“I received a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice,” she adds. “Because I recently moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina, I have not started my career in the Criminal Justice field yet.” She wants to get a Masters degree so she can work with a procurement fraud task force.

Where She’s At: Ashley launched her modeling career last year and eventually wants to get into acting. “When it comes to modeling, I am willing to go as far as I can go,” she continues. “Like I mentioned before, I still have a lot to learn but I know that I have what it takes to get ahead in this industry.”

“It was hard trying to juggle a full time class schedule with a job schedule,” Ashley says, when asked of past challenges she’s had to deal with. “At one point in my college years, I had three part time jobs along with doing volunteer work community service on top of my class schedule.”

“I’ve done a couple of photo shoots, where some pictures were put in a local magazine,” she says, of her recent modeling work. “I also worked as a promotions model for JC Cognac and I am proud of a calendar coming out in 2009 that I will be a model for.”

“Your physical look is your advertisement for the world,” Ashley says. “With all of that said, your beauty cannot get you a degree. It can get you a job but brainpower is what helps you keep that job. One complements the other; you need both to be successful in this generation.”

So how does this young model prepare to step out?

“The clothing stores that I mainly shop at are Express, Banana Republic, Holister, American Eagle, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Aeropostale,” she says. “My favorite shoe brands are BCBGIRLS and Enzo Angiolini. I use products such as Palmer’s Cocoa Butter and Johnson and Johnson’s Shea and Cocoa butter body wash and lotion. Makeup? MAC Cosmetics all the way.”

Ashley’s Words Of Wisdom: “Hebrews 11:1.  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Proverbs 18:24. A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
