[Our Beauty Of The Day]

Where She's From: Beautiful Dawn Alicia Montgomery was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

“I have actually resided all over the state from Jackson to Moss Point, Mississippi. I am a Marine brat and my life wasn't stable until my mother moved me and my siblings back to Mississippi,” she tells The Black Star News.

“I am an exclusive model with HD, the modeling-talent agency located in Atlanta,” she continues. “I am a published writer who's articles are in CTP magazine and J'Adore magazine. I am V.P. of SweetHearts Inc a PR Consulting Company in Atlanta, Georgia. I am a student at Oglethorpe University majoring in Communications/Rhetoric Studies. But most of all I am a proud single mother of an adventurous two year old boy.”

Where She’s At:
Dawn is focusing on making Dawn Alicia Montgomery a.k.a. MISSISSIPPI a brand. “My company that I partnered with CEO Jessica Anderson specializes in helping people in the entertainment industry brand themselves,” she says. “I believe in making my name a household name in a positive way.”

Where She’s Heading:
Dawn is working towards a major cosmetic campaign and publishing her first book. “As a model, my favorite thing about it is hiding behind the makeup. I used to hide behind who I was and makeup covered that up until I saw myself for the first time,” she explains. “Then after that look I began to appreciate the beauty that makeup enhanced and I love the concept of makeup. Publishing my first book is something that I will be most grateful for because of my endurance in becoming a writer. I write entertainment-sports feature articles, but to focus on a centered topic with about 20 chapters will be a major feat in my writing career.”

Dawn's Words of Wisdom:
"Your thought process controls the direction your life will travel."
Dawn's Secrets of Success: “Hard work is the name of the game. I am so country and I believe in old-fashioned manners and in this industry people respect that and it has carried me, along with my talents, a mighty long way. Glory be to God!”
Dawn's Favorite Movies: “Any Given Sunday, JFK Assassination, The Secret.”
Dawn's Favorite Books: “Anything written by Mississippi Author John Grisham and The Holy Bible.”
Leaders That Have Most Inspired Dawn: “Rev. Gertie Lynette Smiley, Maya Angelou, Josephine Baker, Vernon Dahmer.”
First Thing Dawn Would Do As President: “Thank God, because never in my wildest dreams would I ever think someone would elect an African-American female as President. Now where is my catfish and grits.”
Dawn’s Favorite Car: “The one I drive. I take pride in everything that I own, because all my life I have had to fight to get what I wanted.”
Dawn's Favorite Musicians: “Earth, Wind, & Fire and I love Kanye West. He is by far my favorite hip-hop artist along with Lupe Fiasco, Common, and LL Cool J. I need meaning behind words that travel along a beat not just adjectives. Think about that!”
Dawn's Favorite Website: “Right now I would have to say CNN. I am a very political person. Heck, I am a southern girl from South Mississippi who is a member of the Republican party. So I have to keep up with what's current at all times. Even when my party doesn't represent me to the fullest, but does yours?”
