NekuH: “I however am very comfortable with my size and I look at myself in the mirror everyday with adoration.”

[Model Of The Day]

Where She’s From: NekuH was born in Brooklyn, New York during the mid 80’s and two years later moved to St. Albans, Queens where she spent the duration of her adolescent life.

“I am the last of five children and the second child born in America,” she tells The Black Star News. “However I consider myself Ghanaian, and a firm believer that your place of birth doesn’t decide who you are. It’s all about blood and genetics. The most important thing I have learned from my relatives is to be proud of your heritage and allow it to decide who you are and what you become.”

She attended Morgan State University for her bachelor’s degree and she is currently pursuing a graduate degree at another institution.

Where She’s At: “I began as an amateur model in 2006 in Maryland. Since then I have done work in several states, and continue to expand my professional network,” she adds. “I hope to become a household face who redefines what Black beauty and success is and to be an inspiration to other Black women.”

“One major challenge in the modeling industry is weight and size,” she continues. “Although I am slim, some designers and agencies believe I am too thick. I however am very comfortable with my size and I look at myself in the mirror everyday with adoration. I do make sure that I am in good shape and well toned as necessary to be prepared for any job.

I have done photo shoots in other countries including Ghana, I have been in several fashion shows and I am constantly being presented with new professional opportunities. I have been in a few online magazines and blogs and participated in few interviews. Very soon their will be a comic book coming out with me as one of its super heroes.’
