Where She’s From:  Lovely Umala Mitchell was raised by her mother, with lots of help from her grandmother, in Oakland,Ca; the heart of the “Bay Area.”

After earning a  BA in Communications and Marketing from the University of San Francisco, she was involved in business-to-business sales for two years. She was then recruited by a San Francisco agency to do some modeling. “I booked regular print and showroom work for the next two years with Levis, one of the main designers based in the Bay Area,� she recalls. “Then, while in New York City celebrating a birthday, I went to meet with some New York-based modeling agencies.  I was asked by an agent at an interview to go to a casting that same day.� That very day, Umala booked a job for a hair product ad.  “I took this as a sign to continue to pursue my career in NYC,� she adds.

Where She At: “I’m currently living in New York City and working regularly in commercial and fashion modeling,â€? Umala says. Her main clients to date have been Levis, MaxMara, Nicole Farhi, Echo Red, LG telephones, and Loreal.  She also has been managing about 15 other models for special marketing events.

Where She’s Heading: Umala plans to model for as long as she can; which in the current industry means she could continue until she’s in her 50s and beyond.  She also plans to grow her model management business into a full time company, which just goes to prove that acquiring business skills is a great bonus. “If you need beautiful,  professional spokes models, contact me!� she says. “If you are a beautiful spokes model contact me!
