Breaking Barriers: Mberry Faye
“I hope to break down barriers and pave the way for other women of color, she adds. “Because we are beautiful and have what it takes—you just have to work hard and never give up on your dreams.
Where She’s From: Twenty-one year old Mberry was born in Belgium and raised in
Gambia, West Africa and in London, U.K., where she now lives. “I was spotted by a
photographer while I was studying near my college, who took a few photos of me and sent them to a few agencies and, as they say, the rest is history, Mberry recalls.
Indeed. Since that fortunate encounter, she’s been featured in Dazed and Confused magazine, Tatler, Black Beauty, on a few music videos, and on television. “I have also done shows for l`oreal, French connection, Vanessa Galvin, just to name a few, she adds.
Where She’s Heading: “I would like to move into acting, Mberry tells The Black Star News. “Presently, I am also working on setting up a charity. I have so many things that I want to do. I look at modeling as a business which I take very seriously, but I also have a lot of fun with it. You never know what you’re going to be doing next.
Mberry is determined to open opportunities for others in the industry. “I hope to break down barriers and pave the way for other women of color, she adds. “Because we are beautiful and have what it takes—you just have to work hard
and never give up on your dreams.
