[Talent Of The Day]

Where She’s From: Beautiful Shavaughn Byrd was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. “As a kid we moved around a lot but the neighborhood where I met my childhood friends was Evanston,” she tells The Black Star News. “The most important thing I have learned from my family is to learn as much as I can from their mistakes. I won’t elaborate because I’ve had a hard life but it has made me a strong and driven person.”

Shavaughn went to Withrow High School and currently attends Southwestern College for Business. “I tried to start my career when I was 19, but I only got and robbed and that made me discouraged,” she recalls. “But I picked myself up and started knocking on doors again because I belong in this business and I won’t be denied. Then Heyman Talent Agency gave me a chance and it’s been wonderful with them. I really would like to get heavy into the high fashion market. Unfortunately Cincinnati has no place for it.”

Where She’s At: “I’m finally getting experience and real knowledge of the business. My face is getting around; I feel good about it. The sky is the limit for me. I understand how blessed I am.”

“I felt like I never got a good start at being the best person I could be,” she adds. “I only had my grandmother to support me and teach me. But she was the rock for the entire family so sometimes she couldn’t give me enough because she was spread so thin.”

“I know that soon bigger doors will open for me. As a stylist, I am most proud of my sharp skill level and progress,” she adds.

So how does this young beauty prepare to step outside? “I love MAC make-up,” she says. “Every race can look fabulous in it. I pretty much like any clothes that looks good on me. I’m not picky at all. That’s the same for shoes. I love sweet smelling perfumes like Vera Wang’s Princess or Babyphat’s goddess.”

Shavaughn’s Words Of Wisdom: ‘Love like you’ve never been hurt; work like you don’t need the money, and dance like no one’s watching.”

The First Three Things I Would Do As President: “Make healthcare affordable for everyone and set a plan so that seniors older than 60 get it for free; make teaching the top paid profession and the screening process thorough; and put in place an effective rehabilitation program for all inmates. They would be forced to spend their time getting educated and learning good ethics instead of becoming better criminals.”
