Our Model Of The Day

Where She’s From: Egyptsia Mosley was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Berkeley, CA.

“Berkeley was the perfect place for my family at that time because of
the diversity and the political support from all walks of life,” she
recalls to The Black Star News.
“I was born into a large family and I thank God for that--I was never
alone. We were all very supportive of one another; my mother always
surrounded us with music, dance and Black culture. I honor and love my
parents for my existence for all the
great guidance, teaching me about principles, who I am and where I come
from; teaching me about the great tradition, love, respect, truth,
honor, faith, unity, self-determination, economic purpose,
responsibility and lots of creativity!”

She also gained her love for the arts, music and dance from her
parents, who also introduced her to soulful music like jazz, soul,
reggae, soca, African dance and all the great instruments.

Egyptsia attended schools in Berkeley. “I conquer my challenges by
maintaining a level head, humbling myself so that I can make conscious

with great character and class; beautiful inside and out—that’s the
balance.”
