“Beauty only last for so long and anything can take it away, Ghana cautions other young aspiring models, “but education is something that no one can take away and lasts a lifetime.

Our Model Of The Day

Where She’s From: Ghana Perez, whose Zodiac sign is Aries, was born and reared in Panama in Central America. “The most important things that I learned from my parents are that that with God, all things are possible, and that patience is not a quality but a virtue. Those two things make so much sense in my life right now,” she tells The Black Star News.

Ghana attended school in Panama City. “I took modeling classes at Tanya Hyman’s Models & Talents in 2000 and moved to Hawaii in 2001,” she adds. “It was then that I signed up with a local Modeling Agency and got my first gig.”

“My biggest dream has always been High Fashion and Runway modeling, but at 5’7″ I am too short. I’m aiming for acting and have my own modeling school,” Ghana adds. She says that in the past, she let her self-consciousness about her accent get in the way. “I’ve learned to confront the fear of speaking in public little by little and now I am a part-time modeling instructor.”

Where She’s At: “Growing up, my Dad always used to buy JET magazine. Everyone knows what’s the first page people look for in the magazine—Beauty of the week. I always used to admire the ladies on that page; only to become one of them a few years later,” Ghana recalls. “It’s something that I am very proud of and of course, my family is also. I was also a FANTA Girl in 2004 which allowed me to travel a lot and meet a lot of people. It was a great experience.”

“Beauty only last for so long and anything can take it away,” Ghana cautions other young aspiring models, “but education is something that no one can take away and lasts a lifetime.”

So how does Ghana prepare to step outside? “I am not a fan of designer clothing,” the beautiful young lady adds. “I usually shop at Forever 21, H&M and Charlotte Russe. They have the cutest and sexiest outfits for a very reasonable price. My favorite perfume is Body by Victoria’s Secret. As for shoes, Nine West and for make up, I only wear make up for photo shoots and special events and that would be MAC Cosmetics.”
