[Our Beauty Of The Day]

Where She’s From:
Kadie Stewart was conceived in Jamaica and was born in Saskatchewan, Canada.

“My parents emigrated there with the help of their Church who employed my father to sell Christian books,” she tells The Black Star News.

“My parents instilled good values in all of us. My mother still says ‘to put God first’ in everything and only goodness shall follow. They also taught me that family is first and foremost the most important thing in life.”

Kadie has an older sister, a younger sister and brother. Her parents later divorced. After finishing high school at the age of 17, Kadie moved to out of her mother’s home and in with a friend who lived in Toronto, Ontario. She always loved big cities.

She worked hard, being a single mother, and graduated from George Brown College where she majored in Financial Planning. “After finishing College I got into the business of insurance,” she says.

Where She’s At:
Kadie works full-time as an insurance broker; and part-time fitness model and co-captain cheerleader for the Toronto Argonauts. “My aspirations are to be successful in a career that I enjoy. I will continue to model part-time and I have registered in some acting courses in 2008.”

She also will be working with the Head Coach of the Toronto Argonauts as a mentor to at-risk youths in Toronto and the Toronto School Board backed and supported by Toronto Police Guns and Gangs Unit. “The violence in Toronto has reached an all time high and I want to be a part of the solution in working and mentoring these at-risk youth females and become a role model to them,” she says.

“After having my daughter I adopted terrible eating habits. Eating late at night; fast food-before I knew it I had gained so much weight,” Kadie says, when asked how she deals with challenges. “It wasn’t until I invested in a personal trainer who put me on a strict diet and workout regime when I eventually lost just about 40 pounds. It was very challenging.”

“I knew I wanted more for myself. I decided I was going to compete in fitness modeling,” she adds. Her first contest was April 15, 2006 where she placed top 10 out of 29 ladies. She gained confidence and even worked harder. At the Fame Worlds contests on July 17, 2006, she came in 4th place.

The contests require physical and mental strength. “All my meals and workouts had to be planned for the week,” the beautiful and super toned beauty continues. She woke up at 5:30am and was at the gym by 6 am for he cardio workout. She went back home, got her daughter ready and off to school and then went to work. Then it was back at the gym from 5pm-6pm to complete weight training. “Ultimately this opened doors in the modeling world,” she explains.

So how does this lovely model prepare to step out?

“I love using Queen Elizabeth Cocoa butter. I love baby phat perfume. Mac makeup. I’m not a name brand person so I don’t have any preferred clothing or shoe line. As long as it looks good on me and reasonably priced- I like it,” Kadie says.
