Where She’s From: Lauren Hoyte was born and raised in New Jersey of ethnic Trinidadian stock.

“One important thing I learned from my parents was not to procrastinate,” she tells The Black Star News. “My mom always told me ‘Do it Today, Tomorrow will be today tomorrow.’”

Lauren went to Morgan State in Baltimore, MD then to Montclair State in New Jersey, from where she graduated with a BA in Psychology; she was the first in her family with a college degree.

Lauren’s worked as a Mental Health counselor and a behavior program technician for adults with developmental disabilities. “I always loved helping people whether it be to train, assist, or develop them in some way which made me very interested in the field of psychology,” she explains.


Where She’s At:
Lauren started modeling about a year ago on a consistent basis. “I feel that 2008 is  definitely my year to shine. I’m so determined,” says the young beauty. “I’ve been through a lot in this industry that at times it has got me down but when I got up I became a stronger person.”

Lauren’s lining up commercial print work with an eye towards signing with one of the top commercial print modeling agencies. “I envision myself in many magazines, advertising campaigns for clothing or cosmetics , TV commercials, pilots and ultimately a billboard.”
 

“Many people ask me what keeps me motivated and I always respond that I am motivated by my passion for fashion, beauty and entertainment,” Lauren continues. “I enjoy being in front of the camera and best described as down to earth, charismatic, open-minded, and determined.”

Lauren’s numerous credits includes features in Braids n Beauty Hair, Today’s Black Woman, and recently The Source Magazine.

She’s been a featured extra for NBC’s Lipstick Jungle with Brooke Shields; she’s co- hosted an episode of MTV Sucker Free; she’s appeared as a guest on the Tyra Banks show special discussing women and body image; and, Lauren was a cover model for Urban Books presents “The Boss” by Tysha.

So how does this beauty prepare to step out?

“Marc Jacobs-Daisy, Vera Wang, Joy by Jean Patou; these fragrances are so feminine. MAC makeup. I love Dolce Gabana, Moschino clothing Frankie B Tsubi, 575 Skinny Jeans, Roberto Cavali, Christian Laboutin, Ed Hardy, Ecko’, Baby Phat, and much more,” she says. “Vintage clothing. Modern and Stylish Pumps Stilettos. I love my wardrobe to consist of unique items. I basically will pick anything extraordinary off the rack.”
