Nichelle: “The entertainment business is very cut throat and my personality and morals at times doesn’t mix well with that. I know what God has for me is for me, so it’s difficult to be around individuals that are just brutal in their attempts to be successful.�

MODEL OF THE DAY

Where She’s From: Beautiful Nichelle Renee, whose Zodiac sign is Leo, was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland to parents Gerald and Sherry Thomas. “The Christian beliefs instilled in me at the age of five—faith in Jesus Christ is what keeps me motivated to be the best in all I aspire to,� she tells The Black Star News.

Nichelle attended Milford Mill Academy High School and graduated in the top 5% of her class. She embarked on her modeling and acting career full time and attended college part-time; she an Associates Degree in Human Resource Management from Ashworth College.

“In my mind, I would have to say that I’m at the intermediate stage in my career because I’ve come a lot further from where I started, however the sky is the limit for my aspirations and I’ll always be striving higher, even when I am considered an established model and actress,� she adds.

Some of the challenges that Nichelle has to deal with in the industry is her Christian faith. “I also have challenges with striving to obtain a successful modeling career while being a Christian,� she says. “The entertainment business is very cut throat and my personality and morals at times doesn’t mix well with that. I know what God has for me is for me, so it’s difficult to be around individuals that are just brutal in their attempts to be successful.�


Where She’s At:
Nichelle has already walked the runway for several hot boutiques in the Maryland and DC areas. “I’ve also co-hosted Keeping it Real, a lifestyle television show, and appeared in several local magazines throughout the east coast,� she notes.

“Having beauty is just the cherry on top—whereas brains is pretty much the
whole chocolate Sunday. It’s important to educate yourself because people will
take advantage of you, thinking that beauty is all you have,� she continues.

Where She’s Heading: Eventually, Nichelle wants open and own a Model/Talent Agency. “I also aspire to work with adolescent African American girls to provide a mentoring program to help build self esteem and self worth,� she says. “I walk by faith, not by sight. Although I have my own desires, I ultimately want to do the Lord’s will because than I will definitely fulfill my purpose that God has for me, and that is far greater than whatever I have set out for myself.�

So how does Nichelle prepare to step outside? “I’m not a brand person. I wear whatever looks good and makes me feel comfortable,� she says. “I do love to accessorize; I love bags, stiletto shoes, fashion jewelry and all those things to enhance your beauty like make up, skin care and hair care.�
