Renee: “No matter what, I try to stay confident, especially in this career."

[Our Beauty Of The Day]

Where she’s From: Chanelle Renee was born in Augusta, Georgia. “I lived there for a year and moved to Virginia and New York City and than to San Diego, California where I spent the majority of my childhood,” she tells The Black Star News.

“Right now I’m in Jackson, Mississippi. My mother and aunt always emphasized the fact that I should act like a lady at all times, which I do. I’ve also learned from them to be polite and patient.” Renee is currently a senior at a small Baptist university, Mississippi College.

Where She’s At: “I decided to launch my modeling career in the spring of 2006. So it’s been almost two years since I started,” she adds.

“I don’t want to sound cliché, but I honestly see myself on a cover of a magazine. My aspiration has always been to be an inspiration to other young ladies and little girls. Just as growing up, my inspiration to start modeling was Tyra Banks.”

“A major challenge right now is my geographic location,” the beautiful young model adds. “It is almost impossible to be successful in modeling, living in Mississippi.

One way that I conquer that is by traveling to different locations such as New Orleans, Memphis and Atlanta to find modeling jobs and different gigs.”

“I am not the standard 5’9 runway model,” Renee explains. “So in order to make a stand, I make sure I have one of the strongest runway walks anyone has seen; and I’ve been told I do so.”

“My most proud accomplishments would be the Wal-Mart gift card I was featured on last fall of 2006. I also was the face of Visage Skin Care line on Amazon.com fall of 2006. Just recently I got back from a trip to the Virgin Islands to do a five day photo shoot and participate in the Virgin Islands Fashion Week,” the young model continues.
“I got an opportunity to network with a lot of great designers, photographers, and make-up artist. It was definitely one of the most beneficial things I’ve done so far.”

“Modeling is a business. Just like any business, one must know how to uphold it and make it profitable. So it is important for people to be able to think for themselves. Beauty can only take you so far, you also got to be able to know how to use your brain and market yourself. It’s about time that people should knock that stereotype that all models are dumb,” says Renee.

So how does this young beauty prepare to step out?

“My all time favorite makeup brand is MAC,” she says. “I love MAC so much because of its rich textures in the eye shadows. Being a dark-skinned girl, it is often hard for me to find eye shadows that show up on my skin. MAC solved that problem for me. I am a bargain shopper when it comes to clothing brands. I don’t wear any particular label for any particular reason. I think that whole idea is overly exaggerated anyway. Clothes are made to cover your body, as long as you think it looks good, what does it matter the label? My favorite lotion is Quench. The southern weather is very humid, and the winters are icy chilled, so Quench really works and it has glitter.”

Renee’s Words Of Wisdom: “Carpe Diem. To me this quote is something I try to live my life by. Tomorrow is not promised today, so live life as if today was your last.”
Renee’s secrets Of Success: “Confidence. No matter what, I try to stay confident, especially in this career. People will always try to break you, so keep faith and confidence within yourself, and you will be successful.”
Renee’s Favorite Movies: “Pulp Fiction, American Gangster, and To kill A Mockingbird.”
Renee’s Favorite Three Books: “To Kill A Mockingbird, The Turn of the Screw, and Confessions Of A Video Vixen.”
Three Leaders That Have Most Inspired Renee: “Oprah Winfrey, Martin Luther King Jr., and my lord and savior, Jesus Christ.”
The First Three Things Renee Would Do As President: “The first thing I would do is send the troops home. I would end world hunger. Lastly, I would make sure that all cars, houses, buildings, are eco-friendly because we are absolutely killing the environment right now.”
Renee’s Favorite Cars: “Ferraris are gorgeous. I would love to own one because they are stylish and fast.”
Renee’s Five Favorite Entertainers And Their Songs: “Beyonce-Listen; Corriene Bailey Rae-Like a Star; Jay-Z-Mama I Made It; Kanye West-I Wonder; and, Al Green-How Can You Mend A Broken Heart?”
