[Our Beauty Of The Day]

Where She’s From:
Shonte Lemon was born and raised in North Carolina, where she currently resides. “The most important thing that I've learned from my parents is to always remain humble, and always treat people with respect no matter their position or title,” she tells The Black Star News. “I was also brought up in church, so I have faith in God.”

Shonte attended Winston Salem State University where she obtained her Bachelors degree in Business Administration. She also has an MBA and works as an Accountant. “I have been modeling off-and-on for several years,” she says. “I enjoy modeling for several reasons, but one of my main reasons is for the excitement of being able to feel like a star and be in front of the camera producing great images.” And indeed she does.

Where She’s At:
“I enjoy modeling, but I do not want my career to stop there. I have recently been on movie auditions to gain practice as well as exposure in the acting world,” she continues. “Acting is also a strong desire of mine.”

“Well, as we all know, there are so many beautiful and talented individuals who model currently, or still trying to get into it,” Shonte explains, when asked how she deals with challenges in the industry. “With this being said, you have to always be on your A game meaning, remain professional, keep healthy skin, stay fit, and so forth. This industry definitely requires tough skin as people encounter rejection on a daily basis. It should always make you stronger and tougher for the next step.”

“I have done several promotional modeling assignments, which I find to be a very interesting part of my modeling career,” Shonte says. “I have also been a featured model in a magazine, and an album cover. I will be a promotional model for two music awards shows this year. I am also going to be featured in two 2009 calendars coming soon. I am also involved in a Breast Cancer Awareness Poster Shoot where I am one of 12 models chosen for this meaningful event. Lookout for me on book covers as well.”

“It's very important to combine beauty and brainpower because beauty can only take you so far,” she continues. “Without knowledge you won't be able to take full advantage of the opportunities you get. In this industry being smart can be the difference.”

So how does this young beauty prepare to step out?

“I definitely use cocoa butter to keep healthy clear skin, and nothing but MAC makeup,” she says. “It's absolutely the best. I don't have a particular shoe brand, just love heels and stilettos.”

Shonte’s Words Of Wisdom:
“To survive, we all must do what we have to do, but to really live we all must do what we love.”
Shonte’s Secrets Of Success: “Have a plan and follow through with it. Never loose sight of your goals.”
Shonte’s Favorite Three Movies: “The Wedding Planner, School Daze, Maid in Manhattan.”
Shonte’s Favorite Three Books: “Joy, The Coldest Winter Ever, Amen Sisters.”
Three Leaders That Have Most Inspired Shonte: “Oprah Winfrey, Martin Luther King, Nikki Giovanni.”
First Three Things Shonte Would Do As President: “Address health care. I would make sure everyone has at least basic health coverage; I would institute some form of financial literacy into our public schools. It bothers me that we only teach people how to get jobs, but not how to handle the money they make, and finally take care of the homeless. We are the richest country in the world and I understand with that title comes a global responsibility to help others, but I feel we should take care of home first.”
Shonte’s Favorite Car: “I love all styles of BMW.”
Shonte’s Favorite Entertainers: “Monica is my all time favorite. I love Jill Scott, Musiq, Mary J Blige, and Mya.”
