Tarniesha Brown; Florida’s Pride

Where She’s From: Tarniesha Nicole Brown, a Libra, was bon October 21, 1984 and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the eldest of four siblings. “The most important things I learned from my parents; never accept any less than I deserve, aim high, independence and believing in myself,” she tells The Black Star News. 

Where She’s At: Tarniesha graduated from Boyd H. Anderson in 2003 and plans to resume college next year for EMT/Paramedic and Nursing. “I feel I was put on this earth to make a difference and helping others is what I believe to be my true purpose,” she says. “I have been modeling since March 2007. I decided to take it seriously after shooting with an excellent photographer. The feedback I received was crazy; full of support and positive.”
 
She’s currently in the early stages of her career, looking for strong and established representation. “Modeling is my passion and I plan on leaving an everlasting impression to this industry,” she says. “I am ready to break the mold. I want it all—fashion shows, calendars, commercials, print work, and launching my website just to name a few. I plan to model for as long as I can.”
 
“I feel it’s important to combine brainpower and beauty because that’s what makes an individual unique,” she continues. “I remember my mom telling me when I was younger that ‘people will tell you you’re beautiful. You can look in the mirror and tell yourself that. But a woman with knowledge and drive is stronger than most.’ Combining beauty and brains is power that no one can take from you.”

So how does this aspiring young model prepare to step out?

“I just started loving Baby Phat. The clothing line makes you feel sexy and like a woman. You’ll probably catch me in nice fitted stretch jeans, I love being comfortable. I wear Nivea and Palmers Coco Butter lotion. My favorite perfume is Liz Claiborne Spark Seduction or anything that smells of Vanilla.”

A Short Tarniesha Story: “I’m a very laid-back individual with an all around personality. I love learning new things. I won’t knock it until I try it. R&B is my favorite preference of music. I tend to be indoors more than out. Egyptian art amazes me. I’m so drawn to its beauty. I write poetry; I feel it’s an excellent way to express yourself and it helps relieve a lot of stress. I’m a big kid at heart Elmo is the bomb. I consider myself to be extremely hard working and focused on the goals I set for myself. I’m very outspoken, bold, humble, and a confident woman. I’ve been through so much already to be so young, and I don’t regret any of my mistakes. Otherwise I wouldn’t be the woman I am today: s-t-r-o-n-g.”
