[Our Beauty Of The Day]

Where She’s From: Ambar Barnes was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas and now lives in Dallas.

“I am very close to my parents and siblings, I have a really open relationship with them,” she tells The Black Star News.

Ambar went to Roy Miller High School and graduated from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, with a B.A. in Arts and a concentration in TV/Radio and a minor in Journalism.

Where She‘s At: “I began to get serious about modeling a year ago and acting about four years ago,” she explains.

“At first it was just for fun then I started to get paid. I was in a couple of fashion shows and photo shoots. I recently started getting blessed with gigs. As for acting, a teacher of mine saw potential and I started doing school plays. In college is when I got serious about it. I joined an independent film company and did some acting.”

“ I am extremely driven and with God's will I'll be at the top,” Ambar says, of her career. “I want to go to Graduate School and become an entertainment reporter. Ultimately, I want to become a producer. I also want to own a salon and a boutique. I love fashion and beauty, what a great way to combine the two.”

“I am proud of being an early graduate in high school and making the dean's list in college,” Ambar adds, when asked about achievements she takes pride in. “Fashion shows and being in two Spanish independent films.”

“Beauty can only get you so far,” Ambar says. “Plus there's plenty of beautiful people out there, but the combination is prosperous--with beauty you can get in the door and be the secretary, but with brainpower you can become CEO.”

“I love make-up by Shiseido, Christian Louboutin shoes, the red sole is killer,” the young beauty adds, when asked how she prepares to step out. “Issey Miyake and Juicy Couture perfume. Marciano clothing and DKNY jeans I love the fit.”
Ambar’s Words Of wisdom: “He who abides in the secret place of the most high, shall abide under the shadow of the all mighty, Psalms 91.”

Ambar’s Secrets Of Success:
“Remain humble at all times. In everything you do give God the Glory.”
Ambar’s Favorite Three Movies: “Godfather, City of God and The Pest.”
Ambar’s Favorite Three Books: “Bible, any T.D. Jakes books and books by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.”

Ambar’s Favorite websites: "www.myspace.com/neenya1 , www.marciano.com , www.bcbg.com."
Short Ambar Story: “I grew up in a tough neighborhood. Plenty of times I saw murder about to happen and drive-by's. I remember hearing gun shots and ducking under the bed. It was awful. Some of my childhood friends are dead because of ignorance. I don't ever want to go back. I have to thank God and my parents for wanting the best for me and for forcing me to get an education. This is why I have so much ambition and thrive to be the best in everything I do.”
