Vee Wess; Southern Beauty

“I haven’t looked back since and I am excited about my future,â€? Vee Wess says.

Our Model Of The Day

Where She’s From:
Vee Wess was born in Atlanta and raised in Warrenton, NC.
“My parents later moved to Durham, NC after I graduated high school. The most important thing that my parents instilled in me was the importance of education, she tells The Black Star News.  “My mother is an elementary school teacher and was always on top of my brother and I when it came to school. They also taught me the importance of putting God first in your life.

“When I was 10 years old my father died and my mother later remarried,  Vee Wess adds. “It was a hard time for me, but I was blessed that my mom married someone who cared so much about my future and wanted the best for me. Most people have horror stories about step parents but I have more of a testimony. He is so much a part of who I am today.

After high school, Vee Wess attended N.C. A & T State University in Greensboro, NC where she double majored in Public Relations and Broadcast News. “I really enjoyed my communications classes at A & T but always had a desire to model and pursue acting but never knew how to break into the industry, she explains.

Where She’s At: “There are not many opportunities for a career of that sort in North Carolina. I later moved to DC to work in Public Relations and living there opened up doors for me to work on many movie projects that came to DC for production.

She worked on sets with A list actresses and actors such as Nicole Kidman, Drew Barrymore, and Hugh Grant. She attended Mike Lemon Casting Acting School in Philadelphia. The decision helped elevate her acting to the next level. “I drove to Philly from DC once a week and at the time I was still working a 9-to-5 job with a non-profit organization, she explains, describing her determination and drive. “I always tell people that you can want to do certain things in life but ‘do you have the drive and the determination that it takes?’ There are a lot off sacrifices you have to make to reach the top and that has always been a challenge for me.

Where She’s Heading:
Vee Wess left her non-profit job a year ago and went on a US tour with Boost Mobile as a promotional model on the AND 1 Mixtape Tour. “I haven’t looked back since and I am excited about my future. Some of my professional accomplishments are landing a print ad for Miller Lite in the Gulf Area, being a Revlon spokes model at the Pre-Oscar Haven Event in Beverly Hills, and currently I am touring the US again–this time with AXE as a promotional model and I will be moving to Los Angeles in August to pursue acting full time.â€?

“It is important to combine brainpower and beauty because there is only so far a pretty face will take you,  Vee Wess warns. “In the entertainment industry you have to be on top of your game and make smart decisions. Also, we should always be expanding our career and taking it to the next level. If you have many talents embrace all of them.

“Some of my favorite things to do is travel, spending time with friends and family, and I have a weakness for home-cooked food,â€?  Vee Wess concludes. “I love to eat. I think it’s because I am from the South.â€?
