Where She’s From:
This beauty will write her story one day. Yael Wachspress, an Aquarius, was born in Berkeley California and when she was seven, her mother packed up and moved the family to the small town of Ukiah, California.

“My mother wanted us to grow up in a safe community based environment,” Yael tells The Black Star News. “My parents have always taught my siblings and I the importance of education and exploration. There is so much to accomplish and so many new things to discover.”

Where She’s At: Yael is currently a student at San Jose State University studying magazine journalism and Women’s studies.  “It took me a while to figure out something I was passionate about enough to make a career out of,” she explains.

“I think it is a work in progress and there is always going to be room for growth,” she says, of her modeling career. “I have a fear of not being successful, but at the same time I think I’m headed in the right direction.”

“I see myself as a successful writer in the future,” she adds, of her passion–writing. “I started a blog over the summer for a numerous of reasons and I have received some great feedback from my stories. It can only get better from here, . right?” she says, laughing.

“I think one of the biggest challenges for me was I did not believe in myself,” Yael concedes. “I doubted my capability to be successful. I was always unsure if I was making the right decisions.  Eventually I had to let it go and take things one day at a time.  I believe at the end of the day everything will work out.  And so now I am in a good place.”

“I went for an internship at the local entertainment newspaper, giving the interviewee the link to my blog. I got a call back with some good news and some bad news,” Yael says, when asked about recent accomplishments. “The bad news was that I didn’t get the internship. The good news was that instead, they wanted me to freelance for them, because of my writing skills. It was very flattering. I am also currently doing more spokes modeling, hosting and promotional modeling. I recently joined Desired Temptations, the most sought after dance group in the bay area. It has opened up a lot of networking doors for me.”
So how does this beautiful young talent prepare to step out?

“I have been using Chanel perfume for years,” she tells The Black Star. “Every time I go to get a fresh bottle at the store, someone is always trying to get me to upgrade, but I won’t. I also love Victoria’s Secrets and Bath and Body Work’s body splashes. I am addicted to shoes. It is the one item I will starve for,” Yael says, laughing. “I just bought a new pair of boots at ALDO, which I am in love with.”

Yael’s Words Of Wisdom:
“There are three types of people in this world.  People, who make things happen, people who watch things happen and people who wonder what happened.  Which one are you?”
Yael’s Secrets Of Success: “Success to me is about relationships.  Who you know and who you want to know.”
Yael’s Favorite Three Movies: “I love Hurricane with Denzel, Dirty Dancing and The 40 Year old virgin.”
Yael’s Favorite Three Books: “Sistah Souljah is an amazing author, No Disrespect and Coldest Winter Ever. I read Bernie Macs auto biography, very interesting story.”
Leaders That Have Most Inspired Yael: “I always used to write as a kid that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was my hero, but I think anyone in our history that stood for something is an inspiration. Especially during times like the Civil Rights Movement, when people put their life on the line for what they believed in.”
First Things Yael Would Do As President of US: “I think that poverty and health care are issues people overlook or they see as such a big problem there is no way to fix them. I think it is time we stop putting a band-aid on our system, get to the root of the problem and start making some changes. Then I would have a party, because I am a woman president! “
Yael’s Motto: “Livin’ la vida loca! Fearless.”
Yael’s Favorite Entertainers: “I grew up listening to the old school classics because of my dad. Aretha Franklin, Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, so I have a lot of favorites. But right now I am listening to Keyshia Cole, Alicia Keys, Talib Kweli, Common and Beyonce will always be a favorite of mine. Whitney Houston I want to dance with somebody is my theme song.”
Yael’s Five Favorite Websites: “ I have a lot of sites I visit everyday, they are listed on my blog www.msfbpuddin.blogspot.com
