Cesar Chavez Documentary: CESAR’S LAST FAST
CESAR’S LAST FAST, a documentary film directed by Richard Ray Perez opens this Friday in New York and the following Friday in Los Angeles.
Using archive footage personal interviews from Chavez’ closest peers, Perez brings the untold story of this civil rights leaderto the big screen. Inspired by Catholic social teaching, Cesar Chavez risked his life fighting for America’s poorest workers. The film illuminates the intensity of one man’s devotion and personal sacrifice, the birth of an economic justice movement, and tells an untold chapter in the story of civil rights in America.
Richard Ray Perez brings the story of civil rights leader Cesar Chavez to the big screen. Inspired by Catholic social teaching, Cesar Chavez risked his life fighting for America’s poorest workers. Using a treasure of archive footage and personal interviews from Chavez’s colleagues and friends, the documentary illuminates the intensity of one man’s devotion and personal sacrifice. The archive footage in the film offers a rare glimpse from Chavez’s peers in the movement; including Dolores Huerta, and Filipino American activist Larry Itliong.
CESAR’S LAST FAST tells of the birth of an economic justice movement, and sheds light on an untold chapter of civil rights in America.
The film had its world premiere earlier this year, at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.
