COUNCILMEMBER WILLIAMS HONORS SIX AT ANNUAL WOMEN OF EXCELLENCE AWARDS

Today, Council Member Jumaane D. Williams, Deputy Leader, will present proclamations to six African-American women, who have made great strides in the film industry. The honorees include:

Josie Thomas, CBS EVP & Diversity Inclusion Officer

Connie Delaigle, Affirmative Action Coordinator for Minority & Women Business Owners Port Authority NY/NJ

Neema Barnette, Producer & Director, Queen Sugar (Executive Produced by Ava Duvernay & Oprah Winfery)

Nneka Onuorah, Filmmaker, Producer (Black Girls Rock)

Carol Ann Shine, Producer, Co-Founder of Blackhouse Foundation

Moikgantsi Kgama, Founder of ImageNation

The proclamations will be presented at the African American Women In Cinema (AAWIC) 2nd Annual Women of Excellence Awards. AAWIC, founded by filmmaker Terra Renee, works to showcase the talents of women of color in all aspects of the film industry, from producing to writing.
The event will be hosted at Morgan Stanley, 1585 Broadway, New York City @ 8:00 P.M.
