In “The Book of David Vol. 1,� David Hollister has done it again with his soulful and smooth insight on family, life and God. In “Questions,� Hollister asks “How do I smile when I feel like crying, how do I live when I feel like dying?�
The song talks about how his relationship with God has helped him cope with life’s challenges and pain. “Divorced� is another standout song that really stands out—Hollister speaks about his tribulations with his wife; how his better half is accusing him of being unfaithful while he’s on the road.
However, Hollister switches the question on her by asking if her suspicion has any merit—or whether she actually has someone else. This album is beautifully crafted and wonderfully diverse. A must have.
