Where She's From: The music industry is lacking---there's a huge void of femcees. Enter The Empress R.A.W. "I wantÂ to fill that void," she says.
She was born Wilameana Jones and raised in Miami, FL., by parents of Jamaican descent. For the past six years she has been grinding through the music industry destined to make her mark as the next big female rap superstar. "My music is directly influenced from my diverse background and real life experiences," she says. Her sound is three-dimensional, a sharp unique hip-hop edge with a southern and Caribbean twist. Some call her style reggae crunk.
In 2003 The Empress R.A.W. moved to Atlanta from Florida to take advantage of the fast growing music scene there. She had her first guest appearance on Killer Mikeâ€™s hit single, Akshon, all while she worked briefly as an intern at Stankonia studios. She next moved on to Jagged Edgeâ€™s JOI studios when she transferred from Florida A&M University.
SheÂ recently earned a bachelor of arts and sciences Journalism degree concentration in Public Relations from Georgia State University. "It was at this university where I learned how to use pro-tools and recorded my first mix cd entitled Boot Camp Vol.I. with special appearances from Killer Mike, Roc D., EVAL styles, and Naira," she recalls. "Da M.V.M.T, make visions move today, was my follow up mix cd which commanded attention from my peers." Her third mix cd, Hidden Gem, included a bonus dvd thatÂ gave a brief description of my goals and aspirations.
Where She's At: Her fourth mix cd/dvd Hidden Gem II:The SequelÂ gave you a glimpse into her world, which allowed viewers a chance to get up close and personal with the artist. Up to date she has pressed up and distributed 5,500 copies of her music.Â â€œI am the Empress because I hold my own imperial title. I had to make visions move today in order to gain respect as an upcoming female artist,â€? she announces.

"In the last few months I was featured on several up coming artist projects and appeared on many stages throughout the Atlanta underground scene," she says. She writes from experience and wants to be able to serve as a positive role model for the youth.
Where She's Heading: Her goals stretch further than being a local success. â€œI want to be a global success, a entrepreneur, business woman, model, actress, spokesperson, everything this industry has to offer,â€? she confides.Â
â€œIâ€™m waiting for people to catch up. I been doin my thing all by myself and getting my name out there with minimum help. With this next mix cd, Against the Grain, I expect to see big results because Iâ€™ve learned from my past mistakes. Now Iâ€™m ready to make an impact! â€?
