Jay-Z and R. Kelly Kick of 2004 Tour
The first of two sold-out nights at Chicagoâ€™s Allstate Arena, September 29th will mark the opening night of the most anticipated tour of 2004 â€œThe Best of Both Worlds Tourâ€”when the multi-platinum duo of Jay-Z and R. Kelly join forces on stage for a 40-plus-city nationwide trek. The tour comes to New Yorkâ€™s Madison Square Garden on October 29 and 30 and in New Jerseyâ€™s Continental Airlines arena on October 31.
Consumer demand rose to unprecedented heights when fans were treated to a taste of the superstarsâ€™ on stage performance together at Jay-Zâ€™s sold-out 2003 Madison Square Garden concert. The two-month tour will take the pair from Chicago, Illinois dates through November 28th in Phoenix, Arizona.
To coincide with the â€œThe Best of Both Worlds Tour,â€? the duo will release their new album â€œUnfinished Businessâ€? on October 26. The album features 11 previously unreleased songs and will feature special packaging including a linitcular cover featuring the artistsâ€™ faces. The album is being released on Jive/Roc-a-fella/Def Jam in the United States and Canada. It will be available on Jive/BMG everywhere else in the world.
â€œUnfinished Businessâ€? is launching with the singles; â€œBig Chipsâ€? and â€œDonâ€™t Let Me Die.â€? Both singles will be added at radio on October 4th. Jay-Z has released 10 consecutive multi-platinum albums since 1996 and has sold over 33 million units. Jay-Z has been nominated for Grammy Awards, as well as Billboard Music Awards and Radio Music Awards. This year he won 4 MTV Video Music Awards for his groundbreaking video â€œ99 Problems,â€? was honored with a Lifetime Achievement award by Prince Charles at the 1st Annual Princeâ€™s Trust Urban Music Festival, received ASCAPâ€™s Golden Note award for excellence in songwriting and has received 2 American Music Award nominations for his critically acclaimed Black Album.
Additionally, Jay-Z has multiple businesses including 40/40 restaurant, Roc-A-Fella Records, Rocawear and Roc-A-Fella Films. He is also responsible for the Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund (scholarship fund for high school students in Brooklyn), The Annual Jay-Z Toy Drive and Team Roc.
R. Kelly has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, and has won 3 Grammy awards, several Billboard Music Awards, and an American Music Award, among many other honors. R. Kelly released his 8th album Happy People/U Saved Me on August 24.
