Mary J Seeking Interns

for Advancement of Women

The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now, Inc. (FFAWN) is looking for interns and volunteers for the summer (and beyond).  If you or someone you know is looking for a summer internship or if you or someone you know might be able to spare a few hours this summer to help out, this is a great and mutually rewarding opportunity.

The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now, Inc. (FFAWN) is an organization founded by Mary J. Blige to inspire women from all walks of life to reach their fullest potential. Through scholarships, grants, and programs that foster strong self-esteem, career development, and personal growth, FFAWN is intended to help women gain the confidence and skills they need to achieve success.

FFAWN, a new and growing organization launched May 2008, is currently seeking summer interns and year-long volunteers.  The positions they are looking to fill would be very much hands-on. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about every aspect of nonprofit management depending on their individual interests, including general small business management and operations, preparing legal documents, financial planning, grant-writing, community and public outreach, marketing and publicity, program development, management and (re)structuring of Board of Directors and Advisory Board, and so much more. In addition, FFAWN is planning a series of fundraising events for this summer and their interns will have plenty of chances to get involved with the planning and execution of these events. Volunteers are also needed to help out at events and to assist with community outreach at public events across the NYC and Westchester areas. They are unable to offer a stipend for interns or volunteers, but transportation will be covered (including a monthly MetroCard for full-time interns). FFAWN’s  offices are located in Times Square and are convenient to both the east and west side subway lines, Grand Central, and Penn Station.

To apply for an internship with FFAWN, or to add your name to our list of volunteers for events and special activities, please contact Mari Moss-Yawn at [email protected] or call 212-299-3375 with your resume (for interns only), contact information, availability, and any specific interests or skills you may want us to know about. FFAWN is excited to hear from you!
