The Rap: Kay-Doe Rising
Kay-Doe on music: “There’s not a lot of females in the music industry so I tend to deal with males more and if you don’t stay strong and determined they will break you.
Where She’s From: Kay-Doe, a Toronto, Canada-born artist whose sign is Sagittarius, was raised in the East Side of Toronto Scarborough. “My family background is Jamaican, she tells The Black Star News.
“I went to a lot of schools growing up just because of the life I was living—I was mainly interested in the streets, she adds. “But when I went to college I took something I was interested in and finished, so that’s a good thing.
“Being a female in the industry has it’s pros and cons, Kay-Doe continues, discussing the challenges she faces. “I feel like it has more cons than pros. I’m a very strong, smart female and I like to say what I feel. There’s not a lot of females in the music industry so I tend to deal with males more and if you don’t stay strong and determined they will break you.
Where She’s Going: “I’m very blessed to be at this stage of my career, Kay-Doe adds. “My single is dropping Summer of ’07, Make It Hot. I ran 5,000 units of my mix CD, 2 Hot 4 Da Streets, in Toronto and New York and I have a lot of people requesting me for collabs, beats, interviews, modeling, shows—it’s just crazy but I love it.
Kay-Doe Words Of Wisdom: “Be determined and have confidence in what you do.
Kay-Doe Secrets Of Success: “Always stick to what you want until you get it, then you move on. Remember, all the things that try to come in your way, are going to make you appreciate what you get in the end.
