Where She’s From:
Kay-Doe, a Toronto, Canada-born artist whose sign is Sagittarius, was raised in the East Side of Toronto Scarborough. “My family background is Jamaican,� she tells The Black Star News.

“I went to a lot of schools growing up just because of the life I was living—I was mainly interested in the streets,� she adds. “But when I went to college I took something I was interested in and finished, so that’s a good thing.�

“Being a female in the industry has it’s pros and cons,� Kay-Doe continues, discussing the challenges she faces. “I feel like it has more cons than pros. I’m a very strong, smart female and I like to say what I feel. There’s not a lot of females in the music industry so I tend to deal with males more and if you don’t stay strong and determined they will break you.�

Where She’s Going:
“I’m very blessed to be at this stage of my career,� Kay-Doe adds. “My single is dropping Summer of ’07, Make It Hot. I ran 5,000 units of my mix CD, 2 Hot 4 Da Streets, in Toronto and New York and I have a lot of people requesting me for collabs, beats, interviews, modeling, shows—it’s just crazy but I love it.�
