“I want upscale, unique parties to be available to everybody, states Toshi. “It’s a step back to an era where every man and woman had their chance for five minutes of fame.

TRENDSETTER

In its heyday, New York City’s Studio 54 was a nightly hotspot for an eclectic mix of celebrities, pop culture icons and all-around beautiful people.

Oddly enough, Studio 54 may have been one of the last true locations the famous and the unknown could mingle. Until bond-trader-turned-actor Robert “Toshi Chan decided to revive the concept of “party in his own unique way.

“I truly think a successful party requires a mix of people from different backgrounds, says Toshi. “The only way to create a buzz is to make a party accessible to anybody and everybody.

He’s recently been featured in New York area media due to his penchant for upscale themes and unique approaches to throwing parties. He’s gained a reputation for bringing fancy to everyday folks and celebrities alike. “No matter what the occasion, people like the idea of attending the ‘it’ party,â€? says Toshi. “It adds an element of excitement — sort of a reason for bragging rights when people go back to their everyday lives.â€?

Toshi has placed special emphasis on parties that reflect his commitment to extravagance. For the 2007 Super Bowl, for example, he hired eight females to serve as hostesses – body painted topless and all. “I like people to walk away from an event saying it was the best party they’ve been to, says Toshi.

Despite his busy nightlife schedule, he’s found time to appear in several movies alongside stars as big as Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon. In usual fashion, however, the fame hasn’t affected his approach to parties.

“I want upscale, unique parties to be available to everybody, states Toshi. “It’s a step back to an era where every man and woman had their chance for five minutes of fame.
