Since 1975 the New York Chapter of the Association of Black Social Workers has sponsored the Harlem based, ABSW Child Adoption Counseling and Referral Services’ program that enables children and teens in need of permanent families through adoption, to be placed with loving couples or single persons who are willing to love and nurture them. Over 4000 children have found their “forever homes” through the program. Post-adoption support services are also provided.

In celebration of forty (40) years of service to minority children and families, the ABSW Adoption Services will hold its 40th Anniversary Gala fundraiser on Sunday October 18, 2015 from 4 PM to 9 PM at Maestro’s Catering Hall located at 1703 Bronxdale Avenue; Bronx, NY. Guests will be entertained by the world famous R&B singing group, Russell Thompkins, Jr. and the New Stylistics; Broadway stage, screen and TV actress, Novella Nelson and other dignitaries and special guests. Delicious food, music and dancing will round out the evening.

The slogan of the ABSW Adoption Services, “Bring Our Children Home….Again” will remind patrons of our mission to find homes for those children in the foster care system who cannot return to their birth families. The Service also works with families who wish to adopt minor relatives who reside in other countries. For more information about the Gala or to adopt a child, call the ABSW Adoption Services at (212) 831-5181.
