Louis Armstrong House Museum Kicks of Hot Jazz/Cool Garden Outdoor Concert

Hot Jazz and Cool Garden Outdoor concert via the Louis Armstrong House Museum

On
Saturday June 18, at 2:00 p.m., Hot Jazz/ Cool Garden will feature a
performance by The Bria Skonberg Quartet. 
Afterwards Sing for Hope: Pop-up Piano project will host a concert in
the garden featuring Smooth Jazz Award nominee Anders Holst and a performance
by the Sugartone Brass Band.  Louis
Armstrong House Museum is located at 34-56 107th Street in Corona,
NY.

In its 4th
Season, the Hot Jazz/Cool Garden outdoor
series is held each summer in the Armstrong Garden at LAHM.  The musical extravaganza showcases
up-and-coming traditional jazz bands that play the musical sounds of Louis
Armstrong.  On Saturday, June 18, the
series will feature The Bria Skonberg
Quartet.
 Performance begins at
2:00 pm. 

Recent
Canadian import Bria Skonberg leads
a fine band featuring Cynthia Sayer on banjo and vocals, Dan Levinson on reeds
and Jared Engel on acoustic bass. This award winning 27 year old is best known
for her fiery trumpet playing, soulful vocals and jovial approach to sharing

From June 18 to July 4 LAHM will participate
in The Street Piano Project: Sing for Hope.  Beginning June 18, neighbors, visitors, and
the general public will be encouraged to play a baby grand piano housed in the
Armstrong Garden.
Founded
by opera singers with a desire to lift their voices for social change, Sing for Hope is a non-profit
organization that mobilizes professional artists – from classical musicians to
photographers to Broadway performers – in volunteer service programs that
benefit schools, hospitals, and communities.

The Queens
concert of the Pop-Up Piano project will take place at LAHM. The concert will
feature American Smooth Jazz Award nominee Anders
Holst
as well as the Sugartone Brass
Band

COST: Admission is $10 for adults, $7
for seniors over 65, students and children. 
The Group rate for 8 or more is $6.00.  Children under 4 years old are free.    All
ticket prices include a guided tour of the museum that can be taken before or
after the concert
