Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed has won the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat warmly congratulates the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia Dr. Abiy Ahmed, on being awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace 2019 by the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

The Nobel Peace Prize 2019 was awarded to Abiy Ahmed Ali by the Committee “for his efforts to achieve peace and international cooperation, and in particular for his decisive initiative to resolve the border conflict with neighboring Eritrea.”

The Chairperson applauds this important global recognition of African leadership to Silence the Guns through African solutions to African problems as demonstrated by Prime Minister Abiy, to promote stability and sustainable development in his country, in the Region and on the Continent as a whole.
