Major Nigerian Re-Union In New York City

The 14th Annual Nigerian Reunion will be held in New York from Friday, July 2 thru Sunday, July 5, 2010 at the Long Island Marriott Hotel Conference Center, 101 James Doolittle Blvd. in Uniondale, NY.

Hosted by the Nigerian Reunion Corporation (NRC), the four-day extravaganza will feature the “best of the best” of what Nigeria has to offer in cultural and historical richness, food, style, entertainment and more.

The annual event will again reconnect friends and professional associates from throughout the United States and from around the world in celebration of the Nigerian Diaspora.  Sponsors include Western Union, Arik Air, Ovation International, Tetrazzini PLC and more.

As Nigeria celebrates its 50th year of independence in 2010, the Nigerian Reunion theme is… An Awakening, A Change, A Promise for the Future – The Golden Year.

Speakers for the Nigerian Reunion include H.E. Donald Duke, former governor of Cross River State and 2011 presidential candidate; Chief Dele Momodu, publisher and editor in Chief of Ovation Magazine and 2011 presidential candidate; Dayo Israel, a young statesmen; and Claret Onukogu, Miss Nigeria in America 2009.

With Nigeria’s rapid growth in the telecommunication, banking, oil and gas and film industries, a series of workshops and panels will address how Nigeria can redesign its image and choose its future leaders.

“The Reunion” will also include an electrifying opening night reception, as well as a Town Hall meeting on the themes: Leadership for Nigeria 2011 and Redesigning the Image of Nigeria.

Donald Duke and Chief Dele Momodu will be panel leaders. On Saturday, attendees will enjoy the Nigerian Reunion Festival and the 2010 World Cup Soccer Viewing Party. On Sunday, attendees will make spiritual connections as they gather to worship.

Later that night, it’s the Nigerian Image Awards and the 1001 Laughs Concert, featuring hip-hop recording artist Banky W, along with comedians Basket Mouth, Gina Yashere, Seyi Brown, Jedi and other top Nigerian and American entertainers.  The Nigerian Image Awards will recognize Nigerians from Hollywood, Nollywood, the fashion industry and other important areas.  “This four-day event will further define who we are and what we have accomplished – professionally and personally – as we kickoff the celebration of Nigeria’s 50th year of independence,” said Segun Adeyina, NRC’s president.

“All are welcome to attend and enjoy this year’s event.”

The cost to attend the Nigerian Reunion in New York is $90.00 if registered before June 20… and $120.00 afterwards/on site.
