The United Nations envoy monitoring Uganda's conflict with the Lord’s Resistance Army rebels, former Mozambique president Joaquim Chissano, has vowed to bring back peace to Uganda.
Chissano today arrived in Uganda where he is on his trip to meet the parties involved in the Uganda conflict. He will also go to Sudan and meet LRA rebels’ leaders.

LRA rebels have been fighting Uganda government for the last 20 years leading to thousands of people dying and nearly two million displaced. Currently peace talks between LRA and government are going on in Juba but nothing much has been agreed upon. The parties last August signed a ceasefire although both sides have accused the other of numerous violations since.
