Global leaders Toyota, Shell and Heineken, will join forces with prominent regional brands such as PetroSA, Cisco, Telkom SA and Barloworld to lead a new drive for African talent.

The international search for Africa’s most talented professionals will culminate in Houston on November 16 with Careers in Africa – the largest African recruitment event in North America – attracting over 800 pre-selected candidates.

Considerable economic progress in Angola, Nigeria and South Africa has resulted in significant demand for broad-based management skills and experienced professionals in the areas of Engineering, Finance, Logistics and Procurement.

More than 30 leading regional and multinational employers will converge on Houston over the two day Summit, with the intention of luring high caliber African talent back from the international market.

For companies with experience in developing human capital across Africa such as Diageo, Coca-Cola and SAB Miller, these Summits are considered an ideal forum to conduct international recruitment as part of their overall skills development strategy; “With major human capital investment across Africa, the Careers in Africa recruitment initiative is a great source of talent for us,” says the HR Director, Coca-Cola Sabco.

Similar Summits are also held annually in London and Brussels.

Managing Director Rupert Adcock believes this is the most effective recruitment channel for multinationals with diverse and significant talent requirements, “GCC is used by leading employers in Africa to tap into the exceptional talent pool that is resident overseas. With career opportunities increasing across the region, driven by continued growth and expansion across borders, Africans are more than ever considering moving home to further their careers and contribute to their local economies,” says Adcock.

Adcock says each year over 1000 professionals are successfully recruited to positions in Africa, “The message is finally getting through that the career progression and experiences that our candidates can hope to achieve are far greater in thriving modern Africa than those they can expect in the more mature European or American markets”.

Careers in Africa is an initiative organized by Global Career Company Ltd. Based in London, Global Career Company specializes in international recruitment for Africa, Asia and Russia & CIS.
