Red Cross; Where’s Haiti’s Relief Money?

Red Cross officials admitted to using some of the funds to pay their debts and vowed to be transparent and to spend every cent of the donations for Haiti on Haiti. They also said permanent housing will be the priority. We must push for immediate action now.

The Friday Haiti Coalition will hold another Protest Rally in front of the American Red Cross Headquarters on Monday April 26, 2010 at 4PM.

The Red Cross HQ is located at 429 West 49th Streets between 9th and 10th Avenues, New York City.

After their first protest a few weeks ago, the American Red Cross issued a statement concerning the allocation of monies –over $400 million– donated to Haiti since the earthquake.

Red Cross officials admitted to using some of the funds to pay their debts and vowed to be transparent and to spend every cent of the donations for Haiti on Haiti. They also said permanent housing will be the priority. We must push for immediate action now.

Housing is needed right now!  The Coalition, which has sent two delegations to Haiti to deliver relief, are concern about the upcoming rainy and hurricane season. The situation on the ground continues to be precarious. Where is the money going! The Coalition will make several specific demands on the American Red Cross regarding the provision of permanent shelters that would withstand the storms sure to come very soon.
