BCAGlobal’s Global Food & Wine Experience is a much-anticipated culinary, wine, and spirit event. The marquee celebration, dedicated to creating a learning and networking experience, is the only major food and wine event in the nation specifically honoring diversity. This gathering of the largest businesses representing the foodservice industry will take place in a timely political climate, when commemorating social inclusion is more important than ever before.

The event will take place on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Guastavino’s, 409 East 59th Street in New York, NY from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM.

Our Vision in Wine and Spirits Award honoree is George Carbonell of Empire Merchants. Presenting the honor to Mr. Carbonell will be CEO of Empire Merchants, John Devin. Each year, recipients chosen to receive BCAGlobal’s most prestigious award are recognized for their service as a role model in their community; honorees are chosen for their dedication to building awareness and creating exposure for people of color. Mr. Carbonell will be presented the award for his commitment to building appreciation of spirits in the black and Latino communities as well as his lifelong commitment to education. Born in New York City, raised in the South Bronx, he has been in the wine and spirits trade for 33 years. Mr. Carbonell has been recognized by the Harlem YMCA Corporate Achievers and the Danny Ramos Hispanic Achiever Award.

Unlike any other food and wine experience, the event creates the vital connections between billion-dollar food service companies and the diverse pool of talent in the culinary world they depend on. At the event, culinary students will work closely with some of New York’s premier food and culinary trade professionals as they prepare to unveil the latest trends and flavors in food, wine, and spirits. Attendees will enjoy culinary pairings from specially chosen chefs, restaurants, caterers, and wine/spirits makers representing brands from around the world. Among the select restaurateurs and notable chefs who will share their creations for the event are Restaurants Associates, recognized one of the nation’s premier foodservice companies, Celebrity Chef Marc Bynum, one NYC’s top Pastry Confectioners Chef Vaughn Moore, Mere Viola’s Sweet Delights, soul-fusion veteran chef Karlton Harris from Cornbread & Caviar, as well as one of America’s top baking institutions Damascus Bakery.

“In our 13th year, we reaffirm our commitment to celebrating diversity and commemorating social progress in the food, wine, and spirits industry,” said Alex Askew, President and CEO. “BCAGlobal is dedicated to serving the community as the indispensable link between the hospitality business and young, diverse talent seeking to hone their skills and find the career of their dreams.”
