Today’s inaugural J.J. Gray Holiday Party and Trunk Show, featuring NESH NYC is being hosted by J.J. Gray designer’s Jessica Perdomo; fashionista and activist Sarah Sophie Flicker; Investment banker and socialite Kimberly Hatchett; and other high profile New Yorkers.
The venue is NESH NYC 15 Gansevoort Street New York, NY.
Jessica Perdomo, a Dominican-American designer from Queens, launched her shoe brand after a fruitful career in fashion at brands such as Ralph Lauren.
Jessica grew up in a low-income family in Corona, Queens, and, after facing the embarrassment of a hole in her sneakers, she vowed to never be in that vulnerable position again. She pulled herself up by the bootstraps, for lack of a better term, and is now committed to creating beautiful, high quality shoes.
Jessica’s unisex shoes are handmade by third generation artisans in Spain. While the shoes can be purchased online or at Jessica’s trunk shows, the company prides itself on its ability to create a custom-fit shoe for clients. J.J. Gray’s personalized experience sets the brand apart from other luxury shoe brands and designers.
Sarah Sophie Flicker is an activist, producer, writer, filmmaker, cultural organizer, creative director, and movement builder. She is the Founder and Creative Director of a celebrated political cabaret group, The Citizens Band, and the Editor-At-Large for Violet Book.
Her writing can be found at Hello Giggles, Rookie Magazine, Refinery29, The Cut, Cosmo.com, Violet Book, Stylist, Rizzoli’s publication The Inspired Home and her site, At Once, focusing on the intersection of feminism and parenthood. She and Lizz Winstead founded Lady Parts Justice with, a reproductive rights and get out the vote campaign using humor and media to expose anti-women legislation and inform on the local and federal level.
Her award-winning film work with co-director Maximilla Lukacs has been showcased around the globe. In 2012, along with Rebecca Parks Fernandez and Tennessee Thomas, they co-founded The Department Of Peace, a production company geared toward creating consciousness raising content and inspiring political action.
Their work includes the “You Don’t Own Me” and “Bad Reputation” Get-Out-The-Vote PSA’S. She is currently working with ART NOT WAR as Content Producer and Creative Director.
Kimberly Hatchett is currently an Executive Director within Morgan Stanley’s Private Wealth Management Division. She graduated from University of Virginia in 1984, where she earned her BA in Rhetoric and Communications. While at Virginia, she competed on the track and field team earning All-American in Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA Championships. Upon graduation, she joined Chase Manhattan Bank, completing Chase’s Global Credit Training Program, and became a middle market loan officer.
After five years at Chase, Ms. Hatchett left to attend Harvard Business School where she graduated in 1991. Upon graduation she joined Morgan Stanley’s Private Wealth Management group, where she has remained for 25 years. In 2015, she was inducted into Barron’s Women’s Hall of Fame. In addition to her professional success, Kimberly is a renowned philanthropist. In 2015, she was honored by the Young Women’s Leadership Schools and in May 2016 she will be honored at the Lower Eastside Girls Club of New York City and America Needs You in September 2016.She has served on the board of directors for iMentor, a non-profit organization that mentors inner city and under-served high school students in New York City, for fifteen years.
Originally from Lawrenceville, NJ, Ms. Hatchett currently resides in New York City with her husband and 14 year old daughter.
