The former New York City Comptroller Bill Thompson has joined municipal bonds underwriting firm Siebert Brandford Shank and Co. LLC as Chief Administrative Officer and Senior Managing Director, the company said in a news release today.

The firm has been the nation’s top-ranked Minority and Women owned municipal underwriting firm since 1998, and is currently ranked among the eight largest municipal underwriters in U.S.

Thompson joins the firm – which recently moved to newly expanded corporate headquarters at 100 Wall Street – this week. In his role as Chief Administrative Officer, Thompson will be responsible for developing and implementing policies related to the strategic development of the firm. He will report to the firm’s President and CEO, Suzanne Shank, the company said.

“I am extremely excited to announce that Bill Thompson is joining Siebert Brandford Shank and Company,” Shank said, in a statement. “Bill Thompson brings to the table an accomplished record of service to New York and a wealth of experience in both the public and private sectors. Siebert Brandford Shank has experienced record growth in recent years through targeted hires. We felt we needed someone of Bill’s stature and experience to continue our growth and help secure our firm’s
desired top ten standing.”

“I am proud to join a firm that has witnessed such considerable growth in recent years,” Thompson said. “Given the current fiscal distress faced by most large cities and states across our country, my experience will prove invaluable as our firm identifies strategies to assist these municipalities.”

The company didn’t disclose how much Thompson will be paid.

Siebert Brandford Shank and Co. is a national underwriter of municipal bonds with offices in 18 cities, and has provided municipal underwriting and financial advisory services to state and local governments across the nation for the funding of education, housing, health services, transportation, utilities, capital facilities, redevelopment and general infrastructure since 1996.
