Maddox’s Critical Thinking Seminar

Two weeks ago, I predicted that Mychal Bell will be in prison in short order and that he will be side-swiped in a juvenile court in LaSalle Parish. It happened last week.

[I Write What I Like]

People without vision shall perish is rooted in the Bible.  Jena 6 is illustrative of our plight.

Sixty thousand persons marched in Jena, LA on September 20 and, afterwards, Mychal Bell was sentenced to 18 months on a phantom parole violation. There is no relief in sight. Black leaders hurriedly scattered for cover.

Tonight, Bell should be doing his homework in his home. Instead, we are standing tongue-tied and Black leaders are clueless about a strategic move to free him. Two weeks ago, I predicted that Mychal Bell will be in prison in short order and that he will be side-swiped in a juvenile court in LaSalle Parish.

It happened last week. This constitutes legal forecasting.

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. None of this is helping Bell because we have failed to show an ability to engage in strategic and critical thinking and political and legal forecasting. Bell stepped into a trap. His lawyers and Black leaders were defenseless. This emanates from a lack of vision.

Although there will be a brief review of instructions in past seminars on critical thinking, this advanced seminar will embark on new territory including but not limited to how to construct definitions, understand the import of legal and racial classifications, detect fallacies, analyze arguments, frame syllogisms, write analogies and engage in political and legal forecasting. These are weapons white supremacists employ to perpetuate our oppression.

My entire adult life has been characterized by public service. Until 1990, I used my resources to save others from prison and to frame litigation strategies against racial oppression. There was never a legal defense fund. With the law as a profession, I killed two birds with one stone.

Since my permanent suspension from the practice of law, I am still actively engaged in racial advocacy. The United African Movement is one platform. A weekly column in the New York Amsterdam News is another platform. In both capacities, the work must be financed. This work is necessary. We need persons who can see through this racial maze.

I have also taken up expensive litigation in federal court concerning the state-sponsored defamation of Tawana Brawley and the right of a lawyer to stand up and vigorously defend a Black woman who was not only raped by Steven Pagones but also by the state of New York with impunity. This has always been a privilege enjoyed by white males.

Our mission must be to stop white privileges. Join Dr. Jeffries and me on October 27 at City College. This mission starts with a re-education of our people. We need to study countries like China or Cuba. Re-education in these countries is a big investment.

The one-day seminar on Critical and Strategic Thinking and Legal Reasoning will cover new materials including political and legal forecasting, like in the Don Imus tirade and the railroading of the Jena 6. Dr. Jeffries will make a presentation on Systems Analysis. Critical thinking is not taught in institutions of higher learning anywhere in this country. This is reserved for secret societies. They run the world.

I am calling on my friends to assist in this endeavor. Black people are suffering from unprecedented racism and terrorism. Black life is cheap and we have no representation. Mychal Bell was intentionally fed to the wolves. The same fate is awaiting other young Black males. We must provide an answer.

This critical thinking seminar will occur on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the NAC Building, City College in Harlem from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To register, call 718-834-9034. There is limited seating.
