Terror Vs. Freedom: Has 7/11 Bought More Time For General Museveni?
As we feared, public gatherings have been banned, and it is likely that Gen. Museveni and his lackeys in the security services will wave the security card like a preacher does the Bible, to frustrate opposition gatherings and political organizing. Full Story

Thousands of viewers looked on as international singing sensation, Chris Brown, apologized for the violent actions he took against his former girlfriend, Rihanna. Video of the apology has been widely broadcast.

The unforgettable TMZ photo of Rihanna, displaying a bruised face, and revealing a broken spirit, remained etched in the minds of many viewers. Although, Brown’s actions were questionable, the matter remains; is Chris Brown entirely to blame for his actions?

According to CNN, a sworn statement by Detective DeShon Andrews, relating to details of the incident was released. In the sworn statement, Rihanna is referred to by her birth name, Robyn.

"Robyn F. turned to face Brown and he punched her in the left eye with his right hand. He then drove away in the vehicle and continued to punch her in the face with his right hand while steering the vehicle with his left hand. The assault caused Robyn F.'s mouth to fill with blood and blood to splatter all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle”, said Detective Andrews.

Before Brown's violent attack, he admitted  in 2007 interview with Giant magazine, to growing up around domestic violence at a tender age.

Believe it or not, according to the Child Welfare Information Gateway, research has revealed that children exposed to domestic violence are more likely to have behavior, social and emotional problems including anger, hostility and aggression. They were also said to have increased use and tolerance for violence in adult relationships. According to the United States Department of Justice, children who grow up in homes where violence is present are 100 times more likely to be abusers themselves.

Brown, in his recent videotaped apology says: “As many of you know,I grew up in a home where there was domestic violence and I saw first-hand what uncontrolled rage could do. I have sought and I am continuing to seek help to assure that what occurred in February can never happen again, and as I sit here today, I can tell  you that I will do everything in my power to make sure that it never happens again, and I promise that. What I did was unacceptable 100%.  I can only ask and pray that you forgive me; please!  hope that others learn from my mistake. I intend to live my life to show that I am truly worthy of the term role-model. Thank-you.”

Brown’s circumstances at home appear to have influenced his actions. Has he simply internalized the domestic violence in his home without truly understanding the impact it has had on him emotionally? How do you handle someone who has become a product of their environment?
