Legendary Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, takes the stage tomorrow at the Capital One Bank Theatre at Westbury on Saturday, April 11 at 8 PM.

Aretha Franklin is best known for her hit single “Respect.”  Tickets begin at $71.50 and are available online via LiveNation.com, charge by phone at 1-877-598-8694, Live Nation venue box offices, and participating Blockbuster stores.  For membership information, visit westburymembership.com.

On January 20, 2009, Franklin sang “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” during the inauguration ceremony of Barack Obama.

Aretha Franklin is one of the most honored artists by the Grammy Awards, with 20 Grammys to date, which include the Living Legend Grammy and the Lifetime Achievement Grammy.  She has scored a total of 20 top singles on the Billboard R&B Singles Chart, and since 1961, she has had a total of 45 “Top 40” hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Some of her hit singles include “Respect,” “Chain of Fools,” “(Sweet Sweet Baby) Since You’ve Been Gone,” “Spanish Harlem,” “Day Dreaming,” “Until You Come Back to Me (That’s What I’m Gonna Do),” “Freeway of Love,” and “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me),” a duet with George Michael.

Franklin is one of the giants of soul music, and indeed of American pop as a whole.  More than any other performer, she epitomized soul at its most gospel-charged.  In 1987, Franklin became the first female artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  In 1999, President Clinton awarded her The National Medal of Arts and in 2005 she was awarded The Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush. In 2008, the American music magazine Rolling Stone ranked Franklin #1 on its list of The Greatest Singers of All Time.

Live Nation is the largest producer of live concerts in the world, annually producing over 16,000 concerts for 1,500 artists in 57 countries. The company sells over 45 million concert tickets a year and expects to drive over 60 million unique visitors to LiveNation.com in 2008.
