Terror Vs. Freedom: Has 7/11 Bought More Time For General Museveni?
As we feared, public gatherings have been banned, and it is likely that Gen. Museveni and his lackeys in the security services will wave the security card like a preacher does the Bible, to frustrate opposition gatherings and political organizing. Full Story

[Film Contest]

NBC Universal is now accepting submissions to its 5th Annual, 2010 Short Cuts Film Festival via www.nbcshortcuts.com.

The bicoastal, Short Cuts Film Festival, formally, “Comedy Short Cuts,” has expanded; it’s not just COMEDY any more, the festival now includes the following genres: DRAMA, HORROR and SCI-FI. The semi-finals will take place in September 2010 --date to be announced-- and the finals will take place in Los Angeles on October 20, 2010.

All entries must be received by August 13, 2010.

Semi-finalists’ films will be screened before an industry audience in New York in conjunction with the New York Television Festival, and finalists will be sent to Los Angeles for an exclusive industry screening at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) Theatre Complex, located in the Guild's National Headquarters.

The winning filmmaker will receive a pilot script deal with Universal Media Studios, and an NBC Talent Holding Deal will also be presented to the Best Performer. All finalists will have the opportunity to pitch NBC Digital Studios and meet with NBC Universal's top network studio, cable and film executives.

Wil Sylvince, one of the most explosive comedians performing around the world today, along with NBC Universal founded the festival in 2005 as a way to celebrate diversity in entertainment with videos produced with a culturally diverse production team, cast, or theme. NBC Universal uses this festival as a pipeline for discovering and developing diverse talent in front of and behind the camera.

Sylvince’s performances on BET’s Comic View, HBO’S Def Comedy and Showtime at the Apollo all garnered standing ovations. His unique perspective on political and social issues, with a twist of his West Indian Haitian culture makes Wil a comedian in high demand. He has toured the country with Damon Wayans, D.L. Hughley, Chris Tucker, Kat Williams and Bill Bellamy to name a few.

Note: AUGUST 13th DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS.
