Wednesday, March 28th, 2012 from 7-11pm, in celebration of Women’s History Month and to commemorate the ongoing celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Freedom Rides, “Tea by Tiffany” will honor Civil Rights Freedom Rider, Dr. Lenora Taitt-Magubane at Grand Piatto d’Oro located at 1429 5th Avenue on 116th Street in Harlem.

Dr. Taitt-Magubane, has a deep history in the student non-violent protest movement that helped to fuel and carry out the principals of the civil rights movement. One of the most spectacular things this group of young people accomplished were the ‘freedom rides’ in which, during a perilous time, they rode interstate buses into segregated sections of the United States (1961) to test the United States Supreme Court decisions Boynton v. Virginia (1960) and Irene Morgan v. Commonwealth of Virginia (1946) that ruled segregation of interstate highways illegal.

As a means to acknowledge phenomenal women and their contributions, each month Tiffany’s Tea Party will recognize an individual woman or a group of women in a variety of sectors and industries.

Tea by Tiffany is a boutique tea lifestyle brand founded in 2010 by Social and Wellness Entrepreneur Tiffanydenise. The company began after a successful impromptu run at Harlem POP, a specialty pop-up experience shop curated by Society Hae in the fall of 2010.

Currently Tea by Tiffany has an online store, a retail location in Brooklyn’s Dekalb Market (Spring opening April 2012) where guests can enjoy weekly Afternoon Teas and some of the best tasting hot and iced teas you will ever taste.

Space for this event is limited so make sure and confirm today. Tickets are $35 per person and includes food, desserts wine and champagne.  To get tickets please go to www.teabytiffany.com/teaparty

We’ll see you on the 28th! Stay tuned for more updates from Tea by Tiffany including the Spring 2012 Dekalb Market tea launch events, and various special events around the city. Drink more tea!
