Today, the new Pa. Chamber for Black Owned Businesses (PACBOB) was launched.
During the coronavirus pandemic, Stefan Hawkins had to close House of Vegans – the first Black-owned vegan restaurant in central Pennsylvania.
It was difficult, but like many business owners, to survive, he applied his skills and talents in a new direction. Even though resources were available, his restaurant was too new to qualify for some of the financial pandemic assistance, but Hawkins said he was still able to establish two new businesses. He opened Good Brotha’s Book Café in Harrisburg and created Fifth Acres Coffee, a brand that will be available in stores soon.
A new organization launched today that could help him and so many other Black-owned businesses, not only as they recover from the pandemic, but in the years to come, as well.
Harrisburg-area entrepreneurs David Dix and Marcia Perry Dix today launched the new Pa. Chamber for Black Owned Business, or PACBOB.
The new chamber will work at the state level, serving as an umbrella organization for regional chambers like the African-American Chamber of Commerce of Central Pa.
